ARE JUDGES AND COURT OFFICIALS ABOVE THE LAW???

On Friday 24 April 2020, the police arrested 17 Musallis in Pretoria West where they were performing Jumuah Salaat. They are still in custody in jail.

They will be taken to court on 28th. Thus, these Muslims were arrested for praying to Allah and for this same reason are they being detained in custody for four days during this Holy Month of Ramadhaan.

On Saturday 25 April, the police stormed into a Musjid in Komatipoort with their boots and rifles. They uttered profanities against our Nabi (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam), forced the Musallis to lay flat on the ground. 24 Musallis were arrested. The brutality of the police has been widely publicized and thousands of citizens have protested.

On Tuesday 21 April 2020 in the Pretoria High Court, in session was the judge, court officials and litigants. They constituted a crowd which had gathered in an unlawful manner. Not a single one of the crowd, including the judge, was wearing a mask nor was there any semblance of ‘social distancing’ or any other measures required by regulations. The court session lasted for several hours with the judge and about 30 others criminally violating the COVID-19 regulations.

On Thursday 23 April 2020 the very same scenario was enacted in the Pretoria High Court. There sat the judge and the crowd of dozens in criminal violation of the government’s regulations just as they had contumaciously violated all the regulations on Tuesday 21 April 2020.

When Muslims pray in silence inside their Mosques, they are treated worse than criminals who murder and rob, and our Mosques are desecrated by police brutality.

But when worse and greater criminal violations are committed by judges, officials and others in court, then there is no police presence, no desecration of the dignity of the court and no arrests.

IS THIS JUSTICE?  IS THIS FAIR!  DOES THE CONSTITUTION ALLOW SUCH GROSS DISCRIMINATION? DOES THE CONSTITUTION ALLOW TRAMPLING ON OUR RELIGIOUS AND CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS?

Today you can leave your home, walk in the street to buy cigarettes. But if you pray in the Mosque, you are liable for brutalization, humiliation, arrest, thrown into jail and heavily fined. This is democracy in South Africa!
