I would like to add that I find this argument raised by South African National Halaal Authority (SANHA) regarding Mufti AK Hoosen’s judgement, pronouncement or verdict over the chicken issue flawed. It’s flawed because, its theological director Moulana Muhammad Saeed Navlakhi, attended a conference in Riyaadh in which various issues regarding halaal and slaughtering issues were raised.
At this conference over 60 studies on various aspects of monitoring halal food were discussed. Moulana Navlakhi even presented the welcome remarks on behalf of all the delegates. (http://www.sanha.co.za/a/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2381&Itemid=229)
Mohammed Saleem policy director and spokesperson of Association of Non Stun Abattoirs (ANSA) stated at this conference: “The conference proves one fundamental point, given the choice Muslims throughout the world prefer “The Prophetic Method of Slaughter”, this is a fantastic opportunity for ANSA members to supply quality English Halal meat and poultry to the Middle East market”. Muslims of the world will not accept meat and poultry unless it is non-stunned and slaughtered in accordance to the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammed (PBUH).
