Q. What is the ruling pertaining to Athaan and Iqaamah which could not be recited in the baby’s ears because immediately after birth, he was taken into an incubator?
A. The mother should demand that before assigning her baby to the incubator she wants to execute this important ritual of Islam. She must demand that her religious rights be honoured. It will not take hours for the Athaan and Iqaamah. Two or three minutes are ample. They can wait until after the Athaan and Iqaamah. If there is no one present to fulfil this important ibaadat, then the mother herself should recite the Athaan and Iqaamah.
If this was not done, then whenever the baby is released from the incubator, the ritual should be fulfilled.
