Searching for the Hilaal (Crescent Moon) of every Islamic month is incumbent (Sunnatul Muakkadah). It is the obligation of Muslims to cultivate the practice of sighting the moon every month. In terms of the Hadith, there is greater emphasis on sighting the hilaal of Sha’baan and Ramadhaan.

Tomorrow, Friday 29th Sha’baan 1438 (26 May 2017), the moon will be approximately 19.5 hours old.  If the skies are clear, the hilaal will, Insha-Allah, be cited. If the sighting is confirmed tomorrow, evening, the SOUTH AFRICAN NATIONAL HILAAL COMMITTEE, which is not affiliated To BOGUS uucsa, will make the announcement.

Entities such as BOGUS uucsa and the NNB jamiat of Fordsburg are more concerned with their egoistical craving for ‘unity’ even if it means overriding the Shariah. A unity acquired in conflict with the Shariah is not unity. It is a ploy of shaitaan. Where there is a conflict with the Shariah, disunity will be a meritorious act of Ibaadat.

Since the members of BOGUS uucsa are Fussaaq, their testimony is unacceptable in the Shariah. Due to Shar’i reasons, the Mujlisul Ulama of S.A. no longer has an agreement with the NNB jamiat regarding the moon issue. Thus, the National Hilaal Committee of S.A. which is affiliated to the Mujlisul Ulama, operates independently from the other BOGUS characters.
