In our earlier articles on the evil trend of qiraa’t entertainment performances of the fussaaq qaaris, we had explained that Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) had said that the vast majority of the munaafiqeen of his Ummah are the qaaris. Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) had also mentioned that the most hated qaaris by Allah Ta’ala are those who visit and associate with the rulers. They bootlick the rulers and the wealthy class since their recitation is motivated by nothing other than monetary objectives.

In addition to the pejorative description of the qaaris by Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam), should be added their clown-like performances. These qaaris resort to hideous contorting of their faces. They look like sorcerers when they make a mockery of the Qur’aan Majeed with their ugly facial expressions and placing of their hands on their ears and heads. They perform like dagga-intoxicated qawwaals who acquit themselves similarly when they sing their haraam qawwaali songs.

Commenting on this haraam style of these miscreant fussaaq qaaris, Hadrat Maulana Abdul Baari (Rahmatullah alayh), a very senior Khalifah of Hadhrat Maulana Ashraf Ali Thaanvi (Rahmatullah alayh) says in his Kitaab, Jaamiul Mujaddideen:

“Among the qaaris has developed a new style of recitation. They recite in emulation of the singing style of qawwaals. With their voices they fluctuate the aayats with rises and falls. They also place their hands on their ears  like singers. The first time that I observed this clowning was in the Sehn of Musjid Nabawi. It was extremely distressing and in total conflict with the aadaab (respects/etiquettes) of the Qur’aan Kareem. Then again I observed it at some places in Hyderabad. Even good Ulama were present (in these shows). However, besides myself no one had objected nor even alluded to the disrespect (for the Qur’aan Majeed).”

Hadhrat Maulana Ashrad Ali Thanvi (Rahmatullah alayh) had also criticized the clowning performances of these fussaaq qaaris.
