THE FOLLY OF THE DANCING MUSLIMS
BY MAULANA IMRAN ADMANI OF U.K.
What is happening around us is what Allah has allowed to happen, and what is not happening is what Allah has not allowed to happen. Do we think we can earn Allah’s grace, mercy, and favour by marching, dancing, singing, shouting, free mixing, and sinning? How can we ask and beg Allah for his help and decree when we are shrouding ourselves in disobedience? How far we have moved away from the path of deen, that our beliefs have fallen upon our actions.
This is why we are ready to sin and free mix in the name of deen, because we believe that our actions and words are what can make a difference. We believe it is our actions and words that can change the minds and hearts. How foolish we are that we believe it is our actions and words that can guide people to Islam. We are lost ourselves, confused and delusional, the compass of our hearts are broken, and we are having dreams and fantasies of our own greatness to become known as legends who made a difference.
Let us not be so naive, we will not even make it into the books of history, we will be a footnote, remembered as the foolish people of the 21st century who kneeled and begged in front of their oppressors for mercy, thinking their protests were a show of power, when in reality they were a show of their weakness, disobedience to Allah, and show of slavery to the disbelievers, hypocrites, evil doers, governments, and back stabbing deviant scholars.
Everything that has happened, is happening, and will happen is with the permission and order of Allah. When we stand in protest, are we protesting against Allah’s decree? or should we be turning to Him for His mercy, forgiveness, and help? When nabi ﷺ saw a dark cloud he would fear the punishment of Allah and would recede to the masjid, turning to the One Creator, in Whose hands lies all power. When the Muslims of the past were in a calamity, they understood it as a punishment and reminder of Allah’s existence.
Yet today, we don’t recognise our disobedience, we don’t recognise our sins, it is for this reason when we are given a calamity, we don’t recognise it as a punishment, we don’t look inwards to see our mistakes, but blame everyone else around us. We think we are so perfect and great, that Allah would not have a reason to punish us, or be angry with us.
The days of darkness are already here, yet we are blind like the disbelievers of the past. Any relief that comes, we will attribute it to our haram methods, failing to realise it is Allah who does everything. This in itself is shirk. Our duty as Muslims is to call to the truth, to call people towards Allah, to warn regard His disobedience, to warn regarding the evils, and to walk on the path shown to us by nabi ﷺ . We have moved away from this as an ummah, doing what we want, and what our evil hearts tell us is correct, this is why the ummah is divided.
May Allah bring us back to His obedience, to believing in His oneness, to accepting all good and bad is from Him, and realising our duty is to obey His commands, regardless of our circumstance.
