HARAAM PICTURES
BY ELIAS AHMED
Asalaamualaykum Waramatulaahi Wabarakatuhu Respected Ulama, Principals, Vice Principal, Staff and students at Al Falaah and Orient.
The photographs of Zainub Mahomed and Hawa Makada from Al Falaah and two male learners from Orient School in the Springfield Weekly Gazette of 26 th July 2024 refers.
Islam prohibits the pictures of living beings. There are a number of factors of prohibition or factors which render the practice of pictures as unlawful. Some are as follows:
(1) The Ahadith of our Nabi sallallaahu alayhi wasallam emphatically condemn and prohibit picture making and pictures.
(2) Pictures of living creatures are the root cause of idolatry.
(3) Tashab-buh bil kuffaar or imitation of the kuffaar.
(4) Tashab-buh bi khalqil-lah or imitation of Allah Ta’ala’s creation of life.
(5) The Malaika of Rahmat abhor pictures of animate objects.
(6) Pictures divert man’s attention from Allah Ta’ala and the hereafter.
(7) Pictures are an agent for pornography.
(8) Pictures are a source of pride.
Abdullah Ibn Mas’ud ramatulaahi alayh narrated that Nabi sallallaahu alayhi wasallam said that ” The picture makers will be punished most severely by Allah Ta’ala ” (Bukhari and Muslim).
When A’isha radiallahhu anha bought a cushion with a picture on it for Nabi sallallahu alayhi wasallam then Nabi sallallahu alayhi wasallam said to her ” Verily ,the people of these pictures will be punished on the day of Qiyaamah . It will be said to them , give life to that which you have created ”
( Bukhari and Muslim)
Ibn Abbas rahmatulaahi alayh narrates ” I heard Nabi sallallahu alayhi wasallam saying that ‘Every picture maker will be in the fire. A life will be created for every picture the picture maker made and he will be tortured in Jahannum’. If you have to make pictures (says Ibn Abbas rahmatulaahi alayh) ,then make a picture of a tree or such things that are inanimate “. ( Bukhari and Muslim)
Ibn Abbas rahmatulaahi alayh also narrated that Nabi sallallahu alayhi wasallam said ” The severest punished on the day of Qiyaamah will be , a person who killed a Nabi or was killed by a Nabi, the person who killed any of his parents, the picture makers and the A’alim who did not derive any benefit from his knowledge “. ( Miskaatul Masabeeh)
Respected people at Al Falaah and Orient , I could go on and on quoting the dangers to those who take pictures and to those who allow themselves to be photographed.
Nabi sallallaahu alayhi wasallam said that this Dunya is carrion and temporary. The Aakhirah is our goal and is everlasting.
The Heads and Ulama at Al Falaah and Orient should not allow their learners to expose themselves to this Haraam . Some of the younger learners are unaware of the harm they are involved in. It is hypocritical that “so called Islamic Schools” are endangering the Aakhirah of all involved in photography. But all is not lost . Whilst there is life in us , sincere repentance must be made in that this vile crime should not be repeated.
Ulama at both schools surely are aware that they are breaking a multitude of laws of the Shariah. Besides Photography there’s the intermingling of sexes, kuffaar sports etc etc.
Therefore the Heads and Ulama must reflect on the fate of the Muslim communities of Burma, Syria, Bosnia, Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan and now Palestine.
There is no exemption for a rebellious community consisting of Molvies and Modernist Muslims who trample on the Deen.
May Allah Ta’ala guide this errant and rebellious community. Aameen.
JazakAllah,
A.Elias.
