RE: KIDNAP OF MOHAMMED ISHAQ AHMED
For refuting misinformation and misunderstanding regarding the Kidnap incident, we clarify as follows:
(1) The name of our kidnapped brother is Mohammed Ishaq Ahmed.
(2) The Kidnappers had demanded R5 million ransom.
(3) He was released, ostensibly on the basis of the stern threat of severe ‘consequences’ issued by someone whose identity is unknown at this stage.
(4) He was not freed by any Islamic organization as is being claimed.
(5) He was not freed by any “hiking” group led By Mr.Yusuf Baboo as has been claimed. This claim is blatantly false.
(6) The fact, that Mohammed Ishaq was released ‘respectfully’ testifies for the pressure which the unknown benefactor had applied. Fifteen minutes after the warning, one of the kidnappers came to Mohammed Ishaq and said: “Brother, come! You are going home now.” The ransom factor had disappeared.
Then whilst still blindfolded, they led him to the vehicle and after a ride of about 30 minutes, released him near to a spaza shop, and they advised him to phone his people to come and fetch him.
(7) Mohammed Ishaq will soon issue his statement describing his ordeal from the time they kidnapped him until the time of his release.
(8) The police were NOT AT ALL involved in this case. They had absolutely no share in the obtainal of Mohammed Ishaq’s release. His release was by the decree of Allah Ta’ala (God Almighty).
(9) Due to the community’s lack of faith in the police, the ransom amount and the phone calls of the kidnappers to the family were not revealed to the police.
(10) Reliable information pertaining to Mohammed Ishaq’s matter is available from only us, The Majlis. Whatever others purport and claim is bunkum.
“And on Allah do the Mu’minoon (Believers) repose trust.”
