HARAAM MALE-FEMALE ‘hifz’ CLASSES
Some concerned brothers from Pietermaritzburg complaining about haraam adult male and female ‘hifz’ classes being held inside the Musjid, state:
“Subject: Concerns regarding mixed-gender classes at PMB Islamia Centre Musjid & Madressah Pietermaritzburg led by Mufti Abdus Samad Desai.
A local Aalim from Pietermaritzburg importuned me several times to please assist in addressing the following concern which is really disconcerting to him.
Serious concerns about the activities at the aforemention Musjid led by Mufti Abdus Samad Desai. Despite several warnings and disapproval expressed by musallees including visiting Ulema and Jamaat brothers to the musjid, this self- appointed administrator and principal audaciously continues to conduct mixed-gender Hifdh classes for baaligh (matric age students) females, side by side with male students within the musjid precints and violating Sharia principles and Islamic teachings.
How do we address this matter with this Mufti who is unconcerned and unfazed ?”

ANSWER
If the Musjid has trustees or a management committee, it is their obligation to terminate the haraam, mal-oon (accursed) mixed classes in the Musjid. Every sane Muslim can understand that the kind of classes mentioned in the question is haraam.
It is absolutely appalling that an Aalim has the audacity to have a zina environment inside the Musjid and to teach Hifz of the Qur’aan Majeed in a zina setting. There is no precedent anywhere in the world for the haraam kind of ‘hifz’ classes described in the question.
If those in charge of the Musjid refuse to terminate the haraam classes, then you have a huge problem – haraam problem. If the trustees are fussaaq, then obviously they will condone the haraam classes in the Musjid.
