MUSJID CLOSURE DUE TO “RENOVATIONS”
Brothers from Lenasia complaining about the proposed closure of Musjid Sayyidina Hamza for the purpose of ‘renovations’, states:
In Lenasia Extension 9 where we reside sadly they, that is those in charge, will soon close Musjid Sayyidina e Hamza for “renovations”.
Whether renovations are required considering the plight of the Ummah is perhaps up for debate. Nevertheless the bigshots have taken decision and now removal of the Musjid items like clocks, boards etc is being done.
A while ago after Maghrib we were sitting in the musjid classroom and in the adjacent classroom a meeting happen to take place. By chance we could see the white projector through the glass door and figures came up, it showed if we remember, funds available were like between 3 million to 5 million rands . At that time more funds were being sought, we were suprised and wondered why, because they had so much funds already. We asked some friends and nobody could justify it.
Never the less we are certain that all are NOT happy and whether the community was or needed to be consulted before just closing Musjid is another story. We havent heard that input can be given. Should the community and Musallies have been consulted?
With regards to the building itself the same problem of the flow of people from what the architect diagram shows of how renovated Musjid will look will remain and according to a mechanical engineer some changes should be made but who can tell the elite anything. The diagram was just put up in Ramadhaan of the architects plan and pictures of new musjid whether Musallies could give input or not hasnt been mentioned and whether it will even be taken into consideration, is another story.
We heard this Saturday that past to effect that 1 brother stood up Zuhr time and said he is not agreement with musjid closure and is just making people witness that if on day of Qiyamah Allah asks he stood up to say he never agree.
If a musjid is being or needs to be renovated what does Shariah, Quraan and Sunnah say? How should it be done and how should they go about it?
Also there is a Padel court opposite the musjid the security gates open full when the Padel is in full swing but half closed when its salaah time.
Padel courts are coming up and have come up all over the country but in many places like Cape Town people have objected there was a article in the media. However in extension 9 the strange thing is as far as I know, no objections were raised to council. Padel is commercially driven and in reality should be far from residential areas due to the noise screaming and the food smells from the restaurant that are part of it which currently enter the Musjid in extension 9. So many learned people respected people where was the objection it was just built in no time.
The non muslims have objected to Padel courts being built but here opposite the musjid in extension 9 no objection, how does that make sense.
Maaf Hadhrat for our rumbling on but the whole renovation and closure of Musjid e Sayyidina Hamza doesnt seem right and the padel courts in ext 9 as well lot of stories of who the board members are etc.
Jazakallah khairan
(End of the Brother’s letter)
At this stage we shall not comment. We await comments by other Musallis of the Musjid. Insha-Allah, we shall comment thereafter.
