QUNOOT-E-NAAZILAH
(Supplication During Calamity)
In times of calamity and hardship, forget about the bid’ah customs of congregational supplication which are generally devoid of sincerity. Such practices are acts of riya (show), bereft of sincerity and benefit. In the middle of the night, in the privacy of your home and in solitude perform some Nafl Salaat and supplicate fervently to Allah Ta’ala. Recite the following Dua – Qunoot-e-Naazilah, as well as Dua in your own language.
Translation
O Allah! Help Islam and the Muslims.
O Allah! Fulfil Your Promise (stated in the Qur’aan): ‘Helping the Mu’mineen is Our obligation.’
O Allah! Create mutual love in the hearts of the believers.
O Allah! Rectify their mutual affairs.
O Allah, guide them towards the paths of peace, and help them against Your enemies and their enemies.
O Allah! Destroy the disbelievers who prevent from Your Path; who reject Your Rasool and who fight Your Friends
O Allah! Create mutual discord among them and cause their feet to tremble.
O Allah! Scatter their unity and disperse their gathering and tear apart their lands.
O Allah! Cast fear into their hearts.
O Allah! Apprehend them, the apprehension of The Mighty and Powerful One.
O Allah! Indeed, we make You our shield against them and seek Your protection from their evil.
O Allah! Send upon them such punishment that will not be turned away from a criminal people.” (End of Dua)
Also remember and understand well that the calamities which are befalling the Ummah are the consequences of our sins and transgressions which have transgressed all bounds, hence justifying the Athaab of Allah Azza Wa Jal. Therefore increase Ibaadat, Istighfaar (Seeking forgiveness) and Taa-at (Obedience). Repentance must be followed by Obedience otherwise the repentance is devoid of substance.
