HARAAM SHAITAANI ‘SOUK’ OF AL-ANSAAR IBLEES
THE REALITY OF THE AL-ANSAAR SOUK-PART 1
BY
QALAMUL HAQ & TULLAABUL HAQ
We issue a clear and serious warning to the Muslim community regarding the Al-Ansaar Souk, held annually in Durban. This message is not meant to alarm unnecessarily but to make the reality undeniable: attending this event is spiritually harmful and contrary to the teachings of Islam.
Despite its label as an “Islamic fair,” the Al-Ansaar Souk has repeatedly shown itself to be a gathering filled with un-Islamic practices, deception, and open disregard for the Sunnah of our beloved Nabi (صلى الله عليه وسلم).
Many Muslims have been deceived by the word “Islamic,” believing attendance is permissible. Know this: attaching an Islamic title does not make an event halal or Deeni. Participation in gatherings that mock Islamic attire, promote immorality, or generally neglect the Sunnah-in fact opposes the Sunnah- is a grave sin and invites the wrath of Allah Ta‘ala.
Nabi (صلى الله عليه وسلم) warned:
“Whoever turns away from my Sunnah is not from me.” (Bukhari)
Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) narrated that the Nabi (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:
_“The most beloved places to Allah are the masājid, and the most hated places to Allah are the marketplaces.” (Muslim)
When asked which places are the most evil, Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) was told by Jibra’eel (عليه السلام) after being informed by Allah Ta‘ala:
“The marketplaces of the land.” (Musnad Ahmad)
It is therefore not a matter of opinion—the souk is a place where Imaan is at risk, where deception thrives, and where one’s Imaan can be eroded.
Imaam Ghazaali (رحمه الله) explains that Iblees instructs his agents to focus on marketplaces and fairs, adorning them with lies, deception, fraud, and immorality, targeting both the first to enter and the last to leave.

ADVICE AND EXPERIENCE OF THOSE WHO ATTENDED THIS FOUL SOUK
The experiences of those who have attended the Al-Ansaar Souk confirm this danger:
Testimony of Brother Yusuf A.
(summarised by Qalamul Haq)
Upon entering the Al-Ansaar Souk, it was immediately apparent that this event mocked our Deen.
Loud secular music in English and Hindi dominated the venue, creating an environment more akin to a commercial festival than an Islamic gathering.
Men and women freely mingled without segregation or respect for Islamic decorum.
Entertainment programmes were hosted by non-Muslims, further diluting any claim to Islamic authenticity.
Haraam Photography and videography were unrestricted, violating modesty and privacy.
Women participated in modelling with uncovered hair, with music blaring in the background.
Prayer areas were inadequately segregated, compromising the sanctity of salaah.
Female non-Muslim security personnel intervened in male disputes, violating Islamic norms.
Young Muslims used the event as a social gathering to meet online acquaintances, with no regard for Islamic guidance.
The overall atmosphere reflected immorality, commercialism, and social laxity, in direct opposition to the principles of modesty, separation, and reverence required by Islam.
This event does not carry the blessing of Islam. On the contrary, it attracts the curse of Allah Ta‘ala and puts the Imaan of attendees in grave danger.

A WARNING
Muslims must be vigilant. Do not be deceived by labels or appearances. Attendance at such events is not a harmless social outing—it is a test of Imaan that many fail without realizing it. It is a danger to Imaan.
Reflect deeply: Are you willing to place your Imaan at risk for the sake of entertainment, socializing, or commercial engagement? Allah Ta‘ala has warned us repeatedly that the markets and fairs are breeding grounds for deception and immorality.
Avoid them. Warn others. Protect your Imaan. The mercy of Allah is vast, but His punishment is severe for those who knowingly follow the path of the corrupt and corruption.
