THE CAMPERDOWN IJTIMA – DESPICABLE BEGGARY
IN VIOLATION OF THEIR OWN TABLIGHI PRINCIPLES
A Brother from Camperdown reports:
“There are now numerous jamaats in Camperdown for this weekend’s ijtima. People are making public appeals for households to prepare meals for these jamaats. People are quoting Hadith to urge people to supply food. Unfortunately, food has become a No.1 priority these days, whereas in Islam, food has a very low priority.
My one concern is that there will be food from doubtful sources, namely, doubtful chicken and meat, and doubtful earnings. I read last night about the serious negative health effects of artificial flavours and colourants.
My other concern is that some people will be preparing food because of social pressure, hence, this food will be devoid of barakah and may have a negative spiritual effect as well.
My questions are:
(1) In the Khairul Quroon period, when jamaats went out to spread Islam, did people rally to provide food for them like this, or did these jamaats remain independent of people and take care of their own food requirements?
(2) There appears to be an expectation from the Jamaats itself that when these tabligh jamaats come to visit, food will be provided for them. Were such expectations also prevalent in the Khairul Quroon period?
(3) Will it be incumbent for me to provide meals as well? Please guide myself and my family in this regard.” (End of the Brother’s query)
COMMENT
The act and expectation of the Nizaamuddeen Tablighi faction are despicable and not permissible. The social pressure applied directly or indirectly is haraam. There is 100% certitude that haraam carrion chickens and meat will be provided. You are also correct in your assumption pertaining to doubtful earnings. Those who are conscious of Islam’s emphasis on halaal-tayyib food and the highly detrimental effects of mushtabah and haraam foods, should not consume the doubtful food extorted by the Tabligh Jamaat.
It appears that this Ijtima is another mass merrymaking stunt. It is lamentable that in this era merrymaking and even nafsaaniyat are promoted under Deeni guise.
It is not permissible for the jamaats to become a burden on people. Their expectation of being served is despicable beggary. Their imposition is a haraam burden on people. Do not consume such food. In fact it is best to stay far away from the merrymaking function being projected as a Deeni event.
Citing Ahaadith to justify this despicable beggary is another example of the ghulu and misinterpretation of Ahaadith and Aayaat to suit the nafsaani agenda of the Tablighis. They are notorious for their ghulu’. It is their haraam ghulu’ which has brought the Wrath of Allah Ta’ala in the wake of which erupted the two mutually antagonistic factions which are at each other’s throats with drawn daggers.
Furthermore, it is also in conflict with the principle of independence of the founding members of the Tabligh Jamaat. Expecting residents to serve the jamaats with food is contemptible and resorting to beggary by applying pressure.
There were no tablighi jamaats during Khairul Quroon. The Jamaats of that noble era were Jihad Campaigns – Jihad with the Sword. They did not beg for food. They did not indulge in nafsaani merrymaking.
There is no incumbency on anyone to serve food for the groups who are coming to Camperdown for a picnic in the name of the Deen. In fact, it is best not to even participate in this mass merrymaking function. Israaf has become a prominent feature of Tablighi ijtimas. Then there is the commercial agenda for the stall holders. The lack of Ikhlaas is conspicuous. Nafsaaniyat and shaitaaniyat are camouflaged with Deeni hues.
