YOGHURTS
ALL YOGHURTS ARE HARAAM
Hitherto, it was the understanding that Plain Yoghurt contained no haraam substances. It has now been learnt that even plain yoghurt contains gelatine as well as the probability of other haraam ingredients camouflaged with chemical designations.
We do not know what E1422 and E406 are. In addition to gelatine and the mushtabah (doubtful) E-number ingredients, yoghurt also contains stabilizer and flavouring. Stabilizer could be derived from plant as well as animal sources. Generally, flavourings contain alcohol. It also contains the preservative, potassium sorbate (E202). This is another mushtabah or haraam ingredient.
ABSTAIN FROM ALL YOGHURT. MAKE YOUR OWN YOGHURT AT HOME OR ABANDON YOGHURT.
You will not suffer any harmful effect, neither physical nor spiritual, by abandoning yoghurt.
