JALSAHS OF CORRUPTION
Merrymaking in the Name of Deen
(By Hadhrat Masihullah Rahmatullahi Alayh)
“When someone is trained in giving captivating talks then people just want to listen to him. He sometimes sends a chill down their spines; sometimes he makes them laugh; sometimes he makes them shed tears; sometimes he recites poetry and na’ts with a melodious tone and the audience exclaim, “Waah! Waah!”
But when they get up and leave, then they leave just like they came; in the same barren (spiritual) state.
Then tea is served; sherbet is served; gossip fills the air; tents are pitched; some are attending to others. When the jalsah is over, then the organizers are congratulated with, “Waah! Waah!” for the grand arrangement. “Waah! Waah! “ is said to the na’t singers.
The speaker is also applauded and besides receiving expenses for the trip, other presents are also given. According to the status of the inviter, extras are received.
All this happens, but the purpose of a bayaan is not achieved, which is, to gain Deeni benefit; the heart becoming disinclined to the dunya and instead, yearning for the Aakhirah.
The organizers present the occasion for name and fame. They may receive the benefit in this world, but they will not get any thawaab for the Aakhirah.”
(Majaalis-e-Maseehul Ummat, No.3 P.36/7)
The aforementioned Naseehat of Hadhrat Maulana Maseehullah (Rahmatullah alayh) aptly applies to ALL the jalsahs of these times. Regardless of the type of jalsah, be it Darul Uloom jalsahs, Hifz jalsahs, so-called ‘islaahi’ jalsahs, etc., – ALL are fake, merrymaking functions of Israaf, riya and kibr.
All of these merrymaking jalsahs are signs of Qiyaamah coming fully within the purview of the Hadith which mentions some signs of Qiyaamah:
“The dunya will be pursued with the amal of the Aakhirah”.
The organizers will proffer a variety of hollow, hypocritical, deeni-sounding reasons to justify their jalsah sins. But deep in their hearts they fail to deceive themselves. Refering to them, the Qur’aan Majeed states:
“But, in fact, Insaan (man) has baseerat over his nafs even though he proffers excuses.”
The hypocritical excuses cited in justification do not deceive the organizers nor shaitaan nor the nafs. People of Intelligence understand the shaitaaniyat and nafsaaniyat motivating these ostentatious wasteful functions organized in the name of the Deen. On the Day of Qiyaamah, they will see what they have despatched ahead of them.
