ALLAAMAH SHA’RAANI’S KITAAB TAMBEEHUL MUGHTARREEN
(ADMONITION FOR THE NEGLECTFUL)
Question
I am reading the kitaab, Admonition of the Neglectful, which was written by Allaamah Abdul Wahhaab Sha’raani (Rahmatullah alayh) of the 10th Islamic century. I am deriving much moral and spiritual inspiration and benefit from this kitaab. However, it has come to my notice that some Ulama say that this Kitaab contains many fabrications. These Ulama cite Imaam Dhahabi as the authority. What should I do? May I read this kitaab?

In fact, in this era of fitnah and bogus molvis/muftis posing as ‘Ulama’, it is Waajib to read the Kitaabs of Allaamah Abdul Wahhaab Sha’raani (Rahmatullah alayh). The molvis who slander this great Wali of Allah Ta’ala, have numerous fabrications and hallucinations in their vermiculated brains, hence they so audaciously and satanically slate this great Imaam of Tasawwuf, Fiqh and of every branch of Islamic Knowledge.
The molvi who based his slander on the view of Dhahabi lacks in Aql. The views of Dhahabi are not Wahi. His view regarding the narrations in the Kitaab are baseless. He flourished more than a millennium after Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam). In relation to Allaamah Sha’raani, Dhahabi is a junior who comes nowhere near to the shadow of the illustrious Allaamah.
Allaamah Sha’raani cited narrations which he acquired from great, noble and illustrious Ulama of the highest calibre, and this was in the 10th century. So what Dhahabi said about the narrations of Allaamah Sha’raani more than a thousand years after the Sahaabah has to be dismissed as baseless. Dhahabi’s claims may not be presented to reject the wonderful Kitaab of Allaamah Shar’raani (Rahmatullah alayh).
Hadhrat Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi (Rahmatullah alayh) had encouraged much to translate Allaamah Sha’raani’s kitaabs into Urdu.
In his introduction of the Kitaab, Allaamah Sha’raani says: “I have elucidated this Kitaab in accordance with Kitaabullaah and the Sunnah of Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam)….Thus this Kitaab is like Imaam Nawawi’s Kitaab Minhaaj in Fiqh. Similarly, the Ulama Sufiyya should issue fatwa in accordance with this Kitaab (i.e. Tambeehul Mughtarreen).”
Allaamah Sha’raani was one of the most senior authorities of the Shaaf’ Math-hab. Most of his narrations are based on the Qur’aan Majeed and acquired from authentic Kutub such as Bukhaari, etc. In brief, all the narrations of Allaamah Sha’raani are reliable regardless of what Dhahabi said, and regardless of what these puny molvis of today disgorge on the basis of Dhahabi’s claims.
Tambeehul Mughtarreen, like all the kutub of Allaamah Sha’raani (Rahmatullah alayh), is a wonderful Kitaab in the sphere of Akhlaaq. For those who follow the Path of Taqwa it is Waajib to study it.
