Allah Ta’ala says in the Qur’aan Majeed: “O People of Imaan! Abstain totally from suspicion, for verily, some suspicion is sin. And, do not pry (into the affairs of others) nor commit gheebat of one another. What! Do any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? (Most certainly) you will abhor it. Fear Allah! Verily, He accepts repentance, and is Most Forgiving.”
