LIES AS A BASIS FOR THE TABLIGH JAMAAT OF MOLVI SA’D
Question:
Molvi Sa’d, the Ameer of the Nizaamuddin faction of the Tabligh Jamaat has made the following statement:
“Without interpretation and lies it is not possible to operate a universal movement (i.e. the Tabligh Jamaat).”
The understanding is that it is permissible to LIE and resort to falsehood by way of interpretation to promote Tabligh Jamaat activity. What is the Shariah’s ruling?
The basis for his argument is a Hadith attributed to Hadhrat Abdullah Bin Rawaahah (Radhiyallahu anhu)).
Answer
Promoting Tabligh or any Deeni project on the basis of LIES is indeed a shaitaani inspiration. The Molvi dwells in self-deception. The episode of Hadhrat Rawaahah (Radhiyallahu anhu) has absolutely no relationship with Tabligh of the Deen. The episode on which Molvi Sa’d relies for his corrupt understanding pertained to a situation of life and death. To save one’s life, it is permissible and even meritorious to even speak a lie.
If a robber intrudes into one’s home and one’s wife went into concealment, it will be haraam for the husband to speak the truth and reveal his wife’s place of concealment. It will be 100% Waajib for him to speak a lie in this situation. But to speak a lie and to violate the Masaa-il of the Shariah for promoting the Tablighi Jamaat type of tabligh is haraam. Lies may not be employed for tabligh or to promote the Deen.
This Molvi is astray. His understanding is satanically convoluted. Employing lies to promote tabligh, then drawing daleel from an episode of life and death, is totally unexpected of a Molvi of even mediocre Ilm. It is this kind of attitude which has spawned so much ghulu’ in the Tabligh Jamaat of both factions. The Qur’aan Majeed says:
“Do not commit ghulu’ (haraam extremism) in your Deen.”
